The Secret Life of Ekphrasis with Saverio Cantoni and Cru Encarnação
This workshop, led by Saverio Cantoni and Erin Honeycutt, takes ekphrasis as a methodology, a practice of translation between senses, mediums, and forms of attention. Taking its cue from Stevie Wonder's Journey Through "The Secret Life of Plants" a soundtrack composed from written descriptions of a documentary never fully seen, they ask what travels when one sense hands its information to another, and what is necessarily lost, transformed, or invented in the crossing? Transcriptions will be written into a shared score, using Nina Paszkowski’s Furore exhibition as a guide, followed by a performance by Cru Encarnação.
